  • Baseball - Semi-Pro Baseball Teams 1939-1943.  J W Cannon High School did not field a Baseball Team these years.

  • 1943-1945 U.S. Army during WWII 

  • 1945-1947 Cabarrus Semi-Pro Baseball League 

  • 1947 Signed a Professional Baseball Contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Played for 6 different Pirate Minor League teams with a Batting Average of .364, .279, .287, .262, .347 and .302

  • 1951-1952 Chicago White Sox Minor League Teams. 

  • 1953-1958 he played Minor League Baseball for the Chicago Cubs, St Louis Browns, Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Angels.

  • 1953 Major League Baseball Debut was with the St Louis Browns. Hit his first and only Home Run off future Hall of Fame Pitcher Bob Lemon

  • In 1958, he hit .343 with 17 homers and 116 RBI for the Amarillo Gold Sox, earning him a Western League All-Star Team Selection

  • Minor League 12 Year Career – 1327 Games, 4815 At-Bats, 1498 Hits, 141 Home Runs and a Batting Average of .311

  • 1958-1962 Baseball Scout for Memphis Chickasaws
