Larry Rucker

Northwest Cabarrus High School 1973-1977

  • Football 4 years, Basketball 3 years and Track & Field 4 years. 

  • 1973-1975 Rushed for over 4,500 yards and scored over 400 points and played Linebacker on defense averaging 10 tackles per game

  • 1974 All County scoring 17 TD’s 

  • 1975 was Team Captain, MVP, All County, and All-Conference 

  • 1976 was Team captain, Team MVP, All County, All-Conference and All-State

  • 1976 Selected to the NC/SC Shrine Bowl Game and 1977 East-West All-Star Football Game

  • Basketball scored over 650 points and grabbed over 450 rebounds

  • Track & Field State Qualifier in the Shot Put, Discus, 100-yard dash, 220-yard dash, and was a member of the 440 Relay Team. 

  • 1977-1979 Football Scholarship to the University of Georgia.  Played tailback and linebacker for three years. 

  • 1980-1981 Transferred to Lenior-Rhyne where he played Tailback and earned his degree. 

  • Worked for the Concord Police Department (CPD) serving 30 years before retiring. He achieved the NC Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate
