A. L. Brown 1953 – 1959
1937 -1941 he attended Lenior-Rhyne College where he excelled in Football, Basketball and Baseball. 1941 began Teaching but in 1942 he joined the US Army as a member of the X11 Corps of General Patton’s Third Army. He was discharged in 1945.
1946 played Professional Baseball for the Rutherford County Owls.
1953 came to A. L. Brown as a Teacher and Coach. In 1954 became Head Men’s Basketball Coach and won the regular Conference Championship, the Conference Tournament Championship and the WNCHSAA State 3-A Championship with a 22 – 0 record.
1954 Head Baseball Coach and won the Conference and WNCHSAA State 3-A Championship with a 15 -1 record.
1955 Baseball Team won the Conference Championship and the WNCHSAA State 3-A Championship with a 16 – 0 record.
1956 Men’s Basketball Team finished the season with a 12 – 4 record and the Conference Regular Season Championship.
1957 Men’s Basketball Team won the Conference Championship, Conference Tournament Championship and WNCHSAA State 3-A Championship with an overall record of 23 – 2.
1958 Men’s Basketball Team went undefeated and won the Regular Season Conference Championship with an overall Final Season record of 20 – 2.
1959 Baseball Team won Southern Division Championship. After the season ended he became Principal at J.W. Cannon and served as an Administrator until he retired in 1982.
