Dan Hamrick

A. L. Brown 1953 – 1959

  • 1937 -1941 he attended Lenior-Rhyne College where he excelled in Football, Basketball and Baseball. 1941 began Teaching but in 1942 he joined the US Army as a member of the X11 Corps of General Patton’s Third Army. He was discharged in 1945. 

  • 1946 played Professional Baseball for the Rutherford County Owls.

  • 1953 came to A. L. Brown as a Teacher and Coach. In 1954 became Head Men’s Basketball Coach and won the regular Conference Championship, the Conference Tournament Championship and the WNCHSAA State 3-A Championship with a 22 – 0 record.

  • 1954 Head Baseball Coach and won the Conference and WNCHSAA State 3-A Championship with a 15 -1 record. 

  • 1955 Baseball Team won the Conference Championship and the WNCHSAA State 3-A Championship with a 16 – 0 record.

  • 1956 Men’s Basketball Team finished the season with a 12 – 4 record and the Conference Regular Season Championship.

  • 1957 Men’s Basketball Team won the Conference Championship, Conference Tournament Championship and WNCHSAA State 3-A Championship with an overall record of 23 – 2.

  • 1958 Men’s Basketball Team went undefeated and won the Regular Season Conference Championship with an overall Final Season record of 20 – 2.

  • 1959 Baseball Team won Southern Division Championship. After the season ended he became Principal at J.W. Cannon and served as an Administrator until he retired in 1982.
