Baseball 1971 – Undefeated County and Conference Champions. Received All-County and All-Conference with a pitching record of 8 wins and 0 losses. 

1971 NCHSAA State 3-A Baseball Champions. He had a pitching record of 4 wins and 0 losses pitching a 1-hitter in the 1^st round, a 3-hitter in the 2^nd round, a 5-hitter in the Reginal Championship and a 3-hitter in the State Championship game winning 4 games for a 12 and 0 Record for the Season. He was selected All-State 1^st Team Pitcher.

1972 County and Conference Champions he had an overall pitching record of 12 wins and 1 loss. Threw his 3^rd no-hitter and 9 strikeouts in the State Playoffs. Selected All-County, All-Conference and All-State, Overall High School Pitching career was 32 wins and 8 losses 

1969 – 1972 played American Legion Baseball for Post 51. Was a standout pitcher, 1^st baseman and power hitter.

1972 Drafted by MLB NY Mets and played for the Minor League Marion Mets of the Appalachian League. He appeared in 8 games pitching 25 innings with 21 strikeouts and an ERA of 5.40 and a batting average of .286
