Richard "Grey" Clarke

A.L. Brown High School 1958-1962

  • Football 1959 - 1961 - Fullback and Defensive Back 3 years. In 1960 was the WNCHSAA State 3-A Football Champions and 1961 Team Captain

  • Basketball 1959 – 1962 – 3-year player, twice winning the Conference Championship in 1961 and 1962. 

  • Baseball 1960 – Starting Left Fielder and Pitcher on the Conference Championship and WNCHSAA State 3-A Championship Team. 

  • 1961 Left Fielder and Pitcher and All-County

  • 1962 Starting Pitcher with a 10 – 3 record, Conference Champions, All-County, All-Conference and “Owen C. Hill” Award Winner

  • 1960 American Legion Post 115 Baseball Starting Left Fielder and Pitcher, District and Area 3 Champions. Had a 7 - 1 pitching record. 

  • 1961 American Legion Post 115 Baseball Starting Left Fielder and Pitcher, District and Area 3 Champions with a 23 – 8 record. Had a 11 - 2 pitching record and Won the NC American Legion Baseball State Championship

  • 1962 American Legion Post 115 Baseball Starting Pitcher and Left Fielder 

  • 1967 – 1991 Served in the US Army and Army Reserves with the 193rd Infantry Brigade. Served 21 years in the Army Reserves with the 108th unit as a Lieutenant Colonel.

  • Worked 33 years in the trucking industry and has been a CCSHOF Committee Member since 2011.
