Martin "Teeny" Lafferty

Concord High School 1930-1934

  • Football, Basketball and Baseball 4 Years

  • 1931-1933 Football – All Conference Running back, Team Captain and Team MVP 1933

  • 1934 Received a Scholarship to Davidson College and played Football and Baseball 

  • 1937 Selected to the Collegiate All-State Football and Honorable Mention All-American

  • Selected to Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Societies majoring in physics and math.  1938 Graduated from Davidson College.

  • Coached Concord High School Football team in 1939 and was selected as an Assistant coach for the NC Shrine Bowl team.

  • 1942-1946 served in the U.S. Army Major. Participated in Major invasions in North Africa, Sicily, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Oak Leaf Clusters and Combat Infantry Badge.

  • He returned to Concord to help establish the Concord Boys Club and was elected President in1950. Later he became President of the Concord Chamber of Commerce and the Concord Rotary Club

  • 1991 Selected to the Davidson College Hall of Fame
