John D. Coble

1944-1947 Football at Mt. Airy HS.  Team captain, tailback and punter. All-Conference, All-State and NC/SC Shrine Bowl selection in 1947.

Basketball - Team captain and All-State selection 1947.

1948-1951 attended Catawba College and Played Football

Graduated from Catawba College 1952 and began Teaching and Coaching

1952-1954 Belmont High School.  1955-1964 Hartsell High School and Won 3 Granite Belt Conference Championships   

1956 Cabarrus County Coach of the Year

1962-1982 Taught and served as Principal at Mount Pleasant Elementary School, Mount Pleasant Jr. High School, Mt. Pleasant High School and Hartsell Middle School.

Served on the Board of Directors for the Nazareth Children’s Home and the Foundation for Good Business in NC.

2004 Inducted into the Mt. Airy Sports Hall of Fame.

2012 Inducted into the Catawba College Sports Hall of Fame.
