Aldon L. Coefield

Barber Scotia College

  • Played High School Football at Kinston Adkin where he was an Offensive and Defensive All-Conference player and Team Captain in 1954 and 1955

  • Attended and graduated from North Carolina A&T State University in 1956-1960 earning a degree in Physical Education

  • Played Football and was Captain of the 1958 and 1959 CIAA Championship teams

  • Served U.S. Army 1960-1961

  • 1961-1968 he was a Physical Education Teacher, Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Rev. Frank T. Logan High School in Concord where he won multiple Conference Championships and appeared in the State playoffs regularly

  • 1968-1970 Assistant Football Coach and Dr’s Education Teacher at Concord High School

  • 1973 became Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director at Barber Scotia College where his teams won three Eastern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships

  • 1984 was inducted into the NC A&T University Sports Hall of Fame and was also inducted into the Barber Scotia College Sports Hall of Fame

  • In 2008, Barber Scotia College named their gymnasium the “Al Coefield Court”
