Gary "Leroy" Scercy

A.L. Brown High School 1952-1956

  • Football, Basketball, Baseball and Track – 4 years

  • 1955 Football All-County, All-Conference, All-State and NC/SC Shrine Bowl Team.

  • Won the “Owen C Hill” MVP and the Harold “Lug” Leazer Award

  • 1954-1956 Basketball leading scorer All-Conference, All-Tournament and All-State for Junior and Senior seasons

  • 1952 and 1953 Kannapolis American Legion Post 115 Outfielder winning the State Championship in 1952

  • 1955 Baseball All-County, All-Conference, All-State and Team MVP

  • 1956 Signed an MLB Contract with the Kansas City Athletics

  • 1956-1960 played in 535 professional baseball games, 1,964 at bats, 535 hits, 87 runs, 103 RBI’s, 84 home runs and a career batting average of .272

  • 1960 retired from professional baseball and served in the National Guard
