1965 Graduated from Mars Hill University with a Degree in Education and began Teaching and Coaching at Mt. Pleasant High School 

1965-1996 Teacher, Head Football Coach Mt. Pleasant High School (1968-1983) and Athletic Director (1969-1995)

Won Conference and District Championships in Football and received Coach of the Year in Cabarrus County and Conference Coach of the Year several times.

Mt. Pleasant High School’s Football Field was renamed “Larry Honeycutt Field”.
