Hartsell High School 1941-1945

  • Football 3 Year Starter, All County, All Conference 1942-1944.  Team Captain and MVP 1944

  • Basketball 3 Year Starter, All County, All Conference 1942-1945.

  • Baseball   4 Year Starter, All County, All Conference 1942-1945.  Team MVP 1944 & 1945. Team Captain 1945

  • After High School Graduation Played and Managed 17 Years of Professional Baseball 1945-1962.

  • Played Shortstop for the Washington Senators of Major League Baseball.

  • Played in the Southern Association for Atlanta and Chattanooga.

  • Manager in the Washington Senators and Minnesota Twins organizations.

  • 1957 Manager of the Charlotte Hornets Baseball Team which won the League Championship and was Named Manager of the Year twice.

  • Inducted into the Piedmont Historical Baseball Society Hall of Fame.
